Zion Train - Rainbow Children

Label: Universal Egg
Format: 10"
First ten inch vinyl single from their forthcoming album for British dub reggae act Zion Train, which, a cover of Aswad's 'Rainbow Children', surpasses the original

Review

Zion Train take it easy. The live their (farm) lives with their families and tour rather than record. So, when a new release is announced, expectations climb high. The first single to pave the way for a new album, 'A State of Mind', is a cover of Aswad's 'Rainbow Children' featuring Aswad's Brinsley Forde himself! I was never very keen on Aswad and their chart biggies like 'Don't Turn Around' certainly did nothing change my opinion. Some 30 years later, the big dub sound of Zion Train puts that record straight. Their version is a lovely roots reggae dub number. Inventive wobbly bass lines and subtle flute get a Professor Skank working over on the flip. It's welcome back to Zion Train.
