Young Tradition - California Morning

Label: Matinee Recordings
Format: CDS
Strong debut offering from Swedish/American duo Young Tradition, who have never met, but swop their ideas by mail

Review

A brand new name for the Matinee roster, and a collaborative effort from two people that have never ever met, and simply mail their ideas between Sweden and the US. A nice idea for a band, I think, though the more publicised Postal Service album has already begun to cover this gap in the market. Nevertheless, this is a great piece of work, with three songs (two original compositions and a cover that is noticeably less good than the originals, always a good sign!) which all skip along nicely with plenty of great melodies. Clearly for fans of the English pop music of the mid sixties, this isn’t especially radical, yet is rather pleasant. Fans of Belle And Sebastian should add this to their shopping lists.

Track Listing:-

1 California Morning
2 All Up To Me
3 Isolation

Northern Drive (2005)
Sweet, summery indiepop on debut album from the Young Tradition, the new band of Brent Kenji, the former frontman with much missed San Francisco act the Fairways, and Swedish musician Erik Hanspers
