intro

Lively sing-a-along latest slice of folk punk from former Million Dead front man, the ever busy Frank Turner, which also includes a video of his recent attempt to play 24 gigs in 24 hours

Described as an "immediately catchy slice of sing-a-long folk/punk", Turner's latest single lives up to the hype. A song ostensibly about the never ending nature and adventures of a gigging artist puts me in mind of the Levellers but with less fiddles. Its lively, the lyrics are slyly humorous and it makes your knee bounce up and down when you hear it. Live performance is hugely important to Turner. 'The Road' also features a video of his recent attempt to play 24 gigs in 24 hours. Having posted a request for venues on his blog, offers ranging from kitchens, warehouses and terraces were made and accepted. The challenge was completed with a triumphant 24th gig at North London's Flowerpot. As publicity stunts go it is good practice for his upcoming headline tour in October which sees him play a gig a day from the 13th to the 29th (except for the 21st when he presumably collapses in a heap somewhere for 24 hours) across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Oh and he is currently supporting the Offspring in the States. Busy bloke then.
