Emotive and powerful tenth album from rock outfit Bush

Review

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale has turned his midlife angst into powerful rock'n'roll on the London quartet's tenth album, ‘I Beat Loneliness’. On both the title track and ‘Love Me Till The Pain Fades’, Rossdale packs a hefty emotional punch. The guitars are loud, the drums thunderous and Rossdale's voice rasps forcefully as he seeks hope amid “the demons that are on my iPhone”. But there are softer, more tender moments, too – for example on the synth-led ‘We Are Of This Earth’ and on the confessional ballad ‘Rebel With A Cause’.. The 12 new songs on the album range from the heavy to the contemplative and Gavin Rosdale's vocals are emotive and bittersweet, throughout. The range of material here and the impressive quality of Bush's performance should ensure the success of ‘I Beat Loneliness;.
