The Manic Street Preachers recently concluded a UK tour in which they celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their 1998 sixth album 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' by playing it in its entirety. Their biggest commerical and critical successes, 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' went to no. 1 in the album charts, was nominated for the Mercury Award and won Best British Album and the band Best British Group at the 1999 BRIT Awards. As suits an album which takes its quotation from taken from a speech given by Labour minister and NHS founder Aneurin Bevan, the tour saw vocalist and guitarist James Dean Bradfield, bassist Nicky Wire and drummer Sean Moore playing its thirteen tracks with passion and a fierce energy. In the second half of each set they played what they defined as their 'Hits + Others' and songs including 'Motorcycle Emptiness', 'A Design for Life' and 'You Love Us'. These photographs of the Manic Street Preachers were taken by Andrew Twambley at the first of two gigs at the Manchester Ritz on the 20th May. Photos by Andrew Twambley www.twambley.com
