Martha's Vineyard Ferries - Mass. Grave

Label: Africantape
Format: CD
Manic new wave pop on debut album from super group Martha's Vineyard Ferries, which includes in its line-up Shellac's Bob Weston and Come's Chris Brokaw

Review

Gracing a tacky album title plus a tedious band name, this African Tape LP in actuality includes both Shellac's Bob Weston and Come's Chris Brokaw. Maniacally rushing through new wave pop with plenty of edge, Martha's Vineyard Ferries pick up the thread left by Guided By Voices, or in previous decades, Let's Active. A wealth of grunge can be heard on 'Blonde On Blood'; with roll-on and roll-off rhythms as if Marc Riley still was a member of The Fall. On 'One White Swan' Martha's Vineyard Ferries at long last get set to show off a bit of twang resilience.
