The Drums are an indie pop five-piece band from Brooklyn, New York, whose influences include the Wake, the Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, the Shangri-las and Orange Juice.
The Drums have a wistful, but exuberant sound. They have released an EP, 'Summertime' (2009), and two albums. 'The Drums' (2010) and 'Portamento' (2011).
The band are currently touring Europe. These colourful photos of singer Jonny Pierce were taken by Darren Aston for Pennyblackmusic at a show at the O2 Academy in Liverpool on February 26th, and capture Pierce and the Drums' fervent energy on stage.
