Maybeshewill - Critical Distance

Label: Function Records
Format: 7"
Cinematic-sounding latest single from Leicester quartet Maybeshewill which finds them breaking into new territory and away from their emo roots

Review

I first came across this Leicester quartet a few years ago now and they were peddling a middle ground, emo-lite post-rock. If they have kept on that path they would have found themselves never being able to leave the toilet circuit. 'Critical Distance' is a breakthrough though. This single is a huge cinematic accomplishment. The production is crisp and vast and it would seem the band have left their meek beginnings behind in the hope of massive success. This approach has worked wonders. I can’t wait to hear the new album in full. It’s taken them over a year to sort it where the previous one was completely written and recorded in a four month time frame and if 'Critical Distance' is anything to go by then it looks as if Maybeshewill could find themselves escaping the bottom rung of venues once and for all.

Track Listing:-

1 Critical Distance
