Yellow Moon Band - Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World

Label: Static Caravan
Format: CD
Appealing, yet monotonous 1970's-influenced folk rock on debut album from partially Welsh instrumental trio, the Yellow Moon Band

Review

Half Welsh half worldly, the Yellow Moon Band plays streamlined instrumental folk-rock inspired by the 1970s. A classical line-up here: guitars, bass and drums, and 'Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World' - taken from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels - features 'Entangled' and 'Maybach' which were released as singles on Static Caravan before. They take you places around the globe in the course of forty minutes, ringing, jangling and stamping, like on the album's finest track, the snappy 'Maybach'. On the whole, 'Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World' sounds a bit samey but if you like to be carried away and taken back to pre-punk, this album is quite a thrill.
