Polly Scattergood - I Hate the Way

Label: Mute Records
Format: CDS
Earthy-sounding, strong second single from new American singer-songwriter Polly Scattergood,

Review

'I Hate the Way' is the second single from this American 21 year old who has been writing since she was 10 years old. 'I Hate the Way' has a whispered vocal from Polly. Assisted by piano, it has an earthy vibe, and is definitely one for fans of Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and early wacky Bjork. It starts quite slowly but as it builds tension, Polly sounds increasingly like PJ Harvey but singing in an Americana style. 'Poem Song' is a live favourite. Backed by a solo piano, she sounds on it like Bjork at her most insecure. This is a song that speaks directly to your soul, and towars the end it adds strings which give it a Scott Walker-style energy.

Track Listing:-
