Tindersticks - The Hungry Saw

Label: Beggars Banquet
Format: 7"
Excellent vinyl only comeback single and title track from their new album for Tindersticks, which has an exceptional B side

Review

'The Hungry Saw' is both Tindersticks' comeback single and also the title track from their new album. For Stuart Staples and co., it is somewhat lo-fi in sound, coming across like a slow paced Velvet Underground. Stuart's cigarette and coffee-stained vocal is joined by backing vocals which is rare for a Tindersticks record. The B side of this 7 inch only release is the absolutely stunning 'The Turns We Took', which deserves to be heard by far more people than on a limited run 7 inch. It should of been put on the album at the very least. It is slow and elegant in the style that the band have made their craft for many years now. A late night tale, which is partly spoken, it is in a similiar vein to the masterful 'My Sister'.
