Pop Off Tuesday - Helicopter

Label: Pickled Egg
Format: 7"
New Pickled Egg label release for " Japan's innovative duo", Pop Off Tuesday

Review

I hear breakbeats! Yet on the turntable it is a Pickled Egg 7 inch single from Japan's innovative duo Pop Off Tuesday. The A-Side 'Helicopter' excels in impact, and in brevity. Multi instrumentalist Hiroki builds a thick structure from the possibly mid 80's New York rap beats over which the dream like vocals of Minori work like eerie vapours. It is not the kind of track that is memorable because of a melody or a hook. The attraction of 'Helicopter' stems from its mystery. There is a sort of disrupted flamenco on the B-Side, 'Kufushoot'. Pop Off Tuesday stayed in Britain for a while which has helped tremendously to make their highly original experiments in pop more comprehensive. Pop Off Tuesday is about the beauty in the odd.

Track Listing:-
