Erasure - Breathe

Label: Mute Records
Format: CDS
Mature, but ultimately "very human"-sounding synth pop on new single from Erasure

Review

'Breathe' is the first single from Erasure's 11th studio album, 'Nightbird'. It was recorded in New York, where electronic wizard Vince Clarke is now based. 'Breathe' very much has the familiar Erasure sound but also sounds very mature in its approach. Singer Andy Bell has, however, lost none of his pop sensibilities The syns used on this make it sound like a very human record rather than one with vocals assisted by a machine, thus making it a perfect little song for early spring. Its B side is 'Gone Crazy' which has immaculate vocals assisted by not overpowering syns and a weird middle 8 solo which is quite original and fresh.
