intro
Enjoyable third album from increasingly impressive and unique Stockport pop quintet, Blossoms
This new album marks Blossoms' seven-year evolution from hirsute Pink Floyd acolytes to spirited pop professionals. 'Foolish Loving Space' is in contrast to the simple indie offering that was their 2016 self-titled debut or 2018's 'Cool Like You'. The new album has more personality, more originality about it. The Stockport quintet's sound may sometimes veer a little towards the derivative - 'My Swimming Brain' reminded me a little of Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' - but the new album does have the feel of a band doing their own thing and being comfortable with themselves. And it is hard not to be impressed by delightfully straightforward pop gems like 'Sunday Was a Friend of Mine'! 'Foolish Loving Spaces' is a record that's easy to play over and over again. It should attract many more followers to the the Blossoms fold!
