One of Scotland’s most successful musical bands, the Glasgow-based pop rock group Deacon Blue have sold over six million albums worldwide. They have released eight top 20 albums, which includes their much acclaimed debut 1987’s ‘Raintown’, and 1989’s ‘When The World Knows Your Name’ and 1994’s ‘Our Town’, both of which reached number one. They have also had twelve top 40 singles, including ‘Dignity’, ‘(When Will You) Make My Telephone Ring’, ‘Real Gone Kid’, ‘I’ll Never Fall in Love Again’ and ‘Your Town’. Having originally formed in 1985, the group which currently consists of husband and wife Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh (both vocals), James Prime (keyboards), Dougie Vipond (drums), Gregor Philp (guitar) and Lewis Gordon (bass), recently celebrated their thirtieth anniversary. These photographs of Deacon Blue were taken for Pennyblackmusic by Darren Aston. at a one-off open air gig on the 13th May at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
