intro
Stand-out, hook-laden debut album from stoner rock Rome-based band Killer Boogie
Recently I have become quite a fan of this current retro fuzz rock splurge coming out of the depths of the stoner rock and doom underworld. Usually when a scene becomes popular the duds tend to outweigh the real sweet nuggets, yet with this revival’s popularity gaining pace each new release appears to want to outdo the last and it shows no sign of waving. Rome’s Killer Boogie have taken on a slightly heavier take on the Kadavar blueprint, especially with the skilled guitar solos and galloping drums, just check out ‘The Golden Age’ or ‘Riding the Wind’ for proof . What, however, sticks out most on this album, even when they slow the pace and take some serious mind altering drugs on ‘Cosmic Eye’ is that each track is full of hooks. When the album is over you want to play it again. And again. And again. Also it has to be mentioned that the artwork on this thing is great, simple but totally on point and effective. I cannot recommend this enough so if you are thinking of dipping your toes in this saturated scene I can’t think of a better place to start.
