intro
Formulaic and cliched indie folk rock from London-based studio project and Second Language label super group, Silver Servants
Ah, don't you just love melodrama and irony? Sit down at the piano and roll your fingers over the keys. Now pull a serious face and scratch a jaw. Next think existentialism. Sum up your thoughts choosing catchphrases from the English language at will. Again lean over that piano and cry it out. Move on to ultimate hipster irony; record a caffe latte cover of ye old age 'Jerusalem'. Yes, you're almost there. Have a break. Get a tattoo and a latte. Don't shave. Silver Servants live through all of today's clichés and do we want more? Yes, after all this is push button indie folk heaven. Now play a bird watch report and include really clever electronica chords on top. 'Quam Quod Non Currant' is what the Silver Servants call that track. 'Far Below' would add to the next sense of disorientation. As if becoming aware of the silliness, from now on Silver Servants decide to go film noir, using sketchy narratives of pseudo intellectualism. To be followed by a clumsy attempt at playing the opening chords to 'Let's Spend the Night Together'. Silver Servants make this sound as deep as a Sonic Youth tune from around 1998. Making sure it sounds like a home recording. Time for the apotheosis now and Slver Servants do a Tunng. This stands for: crispy, jangling folk music and breathing vocals, over a fragile, rolling ditty. Hustle up, and cover in a trendy paper LP sleeve.
