intro
Darren Aston photographs Edwyn Collins at a gig at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
When former Orange Juice singer and solo artist Edwyn Collins suffered a double brain haemorrhage in early 2005, it seemed unlikely that he would ever perform again. After a long recuperation period in hospital, and despite losing movement in half his body and still having problems with regular speech, Edwyn Collins has been well enough in recent years to both release two albums, 2010’s ‘Losing Sleep’ and this year’s ‘Understated’, and also to start performing regularly again. These photographs of Edwyn Collins were taken by Darren Aston at a show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on April 20th, and show an artist still at the top of his field.
