intro
Formulaic, but enjoyable third album from London-based punk/new wave outfit, Limozine
Limozine are a punk band from West London, who have already released two previous albums, 'Car Crash Casino', in 2007 and 'Evil Love' in 2010. 'Full Service', their third album, opens with 'Twenty Greatest Hits', which has a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club swagger before the vocals sweetly kick you in. They try so hard to be Bobby Gillespie in his wannabe rock 'n' roll star role that it hurts. 'Deep Fried Love' was like 'Twenty Greatest Hits', and has its heart in the New York's raw punk underground, sounding like The New York Dolls out on the town for the evening. 'Siamese Twins' has a primitive garage feel, while 'Jennifer X', which has a good twang to it, sounds like a rockabilly Johnny Cash. 'Girls Don't' has a New York new wave punk sound again, and combines the influences of early Television and Patti Smith with 80's style garage rock. 'Surfin' in the Dark', which also recalls the New York Dolls, has a real brash attitude to it. 'Beercan Blues' is a piece bad ass rock 'n' roll nonsense that makes you want to put on that leather jacket and sway those hips. 'Drink Ya Self Out Of It' is more rock and roll craziness, and a song to head bang to but with stronger riffs and grooves. 'Sniffin' Glue' combines the anger of the Sex Pistols with the speed of The Ramones, while 'Welcome to the Rodeo' is as raw as the early Libertines 'Hotel TV Swimming Pool', which closes the album, is another Primal Scream-influenced number. There is nothing new here, but it is enjoyable if you are into that sort of thing.
