intro
Accessible and intriguing second single from Leicester-born and London-based dark electronic act, I Am In Love
This three track EP from Leicester-born and London-based four piece I Am In Love opens with heavy drums and distortion the label 'dark, electro indie' would have you expect. 'Buccaneer Mastery' reminds me of dark electricity Depeche Mode mixed with the vibe of Mansun. It pounds and beeps as you would expect and then fades out in a ethereal haze to silence. Current single 'Call Me An Animal' is clean and concise. I would love it more as a single if it had a more clearly defined hook perhaps but it has enough multi tracking backing and repetition to make up for that. There seems to be a clear 80's influence. It wouldn't have sounded out of places on a Human League album. Final track 'Our Heroes Dilemma' slows us down all be it briefly. It starts with almost whispering vocals and plinking piano before picking up speed and heat with pounding drums. It has an air of mystery. For a band who only recently celebrated their first birthday, I Am In Love manage to pack a lot in to these 3 tracks. As a taster it is immediately accessible and intriguing. I am looking forward to hearing what comes next.
