intro
In his regular poetry column 'Evidently Spencertown', Spencer Robertshaw writes of the overdue fate of expense account MPs
Constitutional digress, now that’s an overpaid mess Lovely expense accounts paying for moats on duck ponds We all sit in the seats One party the same as the other We are just side on different sides But in the lodge we are all brothers We shout at each other all day Hey We shout at each other all day Hey If you want a new Armani suit Or a clean green car with a spacious boot A second home next to the other Or a full time wage for your deceased mother Put the chitty in - Hey Put the chitty in - Hey If you want to shout like Lulu Or take a trip to Honolulu Have call girls wipe your botty Or keep some on the side totty Get paid and shout all day - Hey Get paid and shout all day - Hey If you get caught just resign No criminal charges today No sworn statements to sign Forget the fraud,it will go away No, not now, it’s time to pay Give back the money they siphoned away Then a nice stay on Her Majesty’s pleasure The look on their faces is something to treasure.
