intro
Fantastic best of live compilation, recorded at a gig at the Marquee Club in London, from often under-rated glam rockers, the Quireboys
While London-based six-piece glam-rock the Quireboys may not be the most immediately recognised band, their music is incredibly identifiable having an extensive back-catalogue of tracks from their staggering twenty seven year long career, the most recognisable of which are 'Hey You' and '7 O'Clock'. The 'Live In London' CD and accompanying DVD is a compilation of the Quireboys greatest hits, and as a selection of their work it is faultless. Spike's voice and charisma is perfectly captured, and proves why he is one of the best singers in the glam-metal scene. The Quireboys are not just Spike, and he is ably assisted by Guy Griffin and Paul Guerin on guitar, with e musical foundations by Keith Weir on keyboards, Damon Williams on bass guitar, and Phil Martini on drums. Each member brings something special to the Quireboys' music, and creates something inherently unique. This CD is a live recording of their legendary gig at the Marquee Club in London, where the Quireboys played a cracking set. Despite the live recording, there is evidence that the album has enjoyed post-gig remastering to ensure that any distortion is minimised. The unfortunate downside to this is that we do not have Spike chatting between the songs, something that Quireboys' lead singer is oft to do. Overall, this is a great collection of some excellent music by one of the best glam metal bands around at this time, and is perfect for driving in a car, preparing for a night out, or simply reminiscing of nights spent at the local rock club. The only disappointment is that te Quireboys are not as well known as they should be!
