intro
Fantastic raw-sounding rock 'n'roll on second single from London-based group, the Jim Jones Revue
'Princess and the Frog' is the second single from the mighty Jim Jones Revue. 20 years ago, Jim was called James and fronted a MC5 style band signed to Situation2/Beggars called Thee Hypnotics. Today he looks like a member of the Hives and fronts a raw 1950’s-style rock ‘n’ roll band. ‘Princess and the Frog’ is the rawest rock track that I have ever heard. It doesn't sound like a studio record. It sounds on it as if the band is playing live on it in front of just you. It has the energy of the Stooges’ ‘Raw Power’ and the passion of the early Beatles when they were playing at the Star Club in Hamburg. It is full-on rock in its purest form, with guitars that roar, wild bass that is untamed and drums that are mighty and loud. A piano on it recalls Little Richard in his heyday. ‘ Freak of Nature' is more of the same-raw and sweaty rock ‘n’ roll, which captures the true spirit of live music and of being alive. A song to wash away your worries and to enjoy for the moment!
