intro
Thoughtful experimental pop on debut album from Chicago/Philadelphia-based avant-garde collective, Icy Demons
This album was recorded in the windy city of Chicago, just in case you thoughtyou might be dealing with anything of an exotic and outlandish nature. Icy Demons consist of members from Philadelphia's finest and Chicago's coolest bands. Their 'Miami Ice' title serves as little else than a tongue-in-cheek reference and alas a lazy brained Florida attitude took the upper hand whilst deciding on the band name and album title. Remodeled and remoduled, the Icy Demons however dish out moments of jazzy cold-fusion glory, while capturing the odds and ends left out in the open by Bablicon and other unrecognised demi-gods alike, bands whose members now comprise these Icy Demons. Best described as popjazzsters, the Icy Demons have a new wave punk vibe that comes accompanied with a melodic bang. The 'Miami Ice' album has remained two years in the hiding as an American import and The Leaf Label snapped it up before, I assume, Pickled Egg Records - the other mainstay of quality within the music industry, could. Icy Demons owe the Mothers Of Invention more than they would probably admit to. The mere half hour that 'Miami Ice' takes off your time is full of twisted doo-wops and moments of idiosyncrasy. 'Miami Ice's pulsating rhythms will have dragged you through listening to this brainy little album even before you had the chance to reconsider those odd bits and pieces. One day, the Icy Demons will sound really wowee-zowee to you as well.
