intro
Enjoyableely poppy five track CD from recent Parlophone signings, Tiny Dancers
'Lions and Tigers and Lions', which has come out as a joint offering from Parlophone and indie label Russian Doll, is the major label debut for Tiny Dancers and follows on from their double A sided very limited 7 inch single which came out on Russian Doll. Tiny Dancers were formed in February of 2005, but they have known each other since school days. They originally come from North Yorkshire but are now based in Sheffield. 'Lions and Tigers and Lions' kicks off with '20 to 9' which has from the start a haunting vocal from singer David Kay and also a strong beat to it. Quiet to start, it soon picks speed up, and shows that this new band has a perfect pop sensibility. 'Hemsworth Hallway' has a smooth 80's feel and recollects Aztec Camera. 'Russian Snow' is a sing-a-long acoustic piece and is guaranteed to put a stupid grin on your face. 'Sun Goes Down' is more experimental, but, maintaining a pop structure, shows that David Kay is a perfect frontman and has complete control of his vocal talent. 'Going Away' is another sing-a-long number that wouldn't have been out of place if released in the mid 70's.
