intro

Spectacular second album of "twangy lullabies and ambient folk" from Vancouver consortium, which will prove popular with fans of Giant Sand, Wilco and the Pernice Bros

From the west coast of Canada comes the mist shrouded strains of twangy lullabies and ambient folk. The sounds of trumpet and pedal steel fill the air. Radiogram have produced a beautiful roots rock record with bits of pure pop genius. The band revolves around singer/songwriter, Ken Beattie, who's world weary folk tales weave in and around the band's mix of country and pop. A virtual who's who of west coast musicians appears including Carolyn Mark  as well as Wilco/Blue Rodeo/ Freakwater sideman, Bob Egan. The canamericana sound is done beautifully ,using a wide variety of instrumentation, which suits Beattie's voice so well. When Beattie sings "another winter/six feet under" on 'Cemetary Summer', it gives me chills. His voice is so unique yet similar. Great songs, great record. Fans of Giant Sand, Wilco and the Pernice Bros. will lap this up.
