intro
Furious and abrasive debut album from much acclaimed guitar and drums duo, Blood Red Shoes
Blood Red Shoes consist of the type of hot brunette you normally see on a) the cover of Vogue or b) George Clooney’s arm, plus a buff, frequently-topless bloke. They won’t thank you for saying it but they look like a glamorous, reverse White Stripes (Laura-Mary mans the axe, Steven does the drumming), and they rock like Jack and Meg reborn as an abrasive, sulphurous chemical. Really, ‘raw’ doesn’t even begin to describe them, as they burn with the righteous anger of the newly-dumped (or maybe just the terminally angry) all through this monster riff of a debut album. They offer no warning of the ecstatic, bleeding mess 'Box Of Secrets’ jagged hooks will leave your brain in– and if they were in a kinder mood they’d dapple it with something a bit more sweet-tempered just to add texture (not even Liam Gallagher’s that antsy all the time. Is he?) But don’t expect that to happen any time soon. After all, it’s always the good-looking ones who’re the worst-behaved isn’t it?
