This execution squad, all the way from Norway comprises about a couple of dozen members, who in perfect No New York fashion, and each on his own and acting to its own accord, relive the seemingly pointless days of the late 1970s when Neneh Cherry and her dad went AWOL in Scandinavia.
Split up into four parts, 'Enter' leans on breezy Nordic air a little too much, no matter how addictive this Nordic freeform jazz may sound. On 'Part Four' , 'Enter'concludes in a fine brew of frantic vocalism with exceptional performances from members of this nondescript Fire! Orchestra.
During the middle 'Enter Part Two', the zany freeform jazz æsthetics from Mats Gustafsson show true. Merging dragging funeral music and the adventurous avant-garde, their grand symphony at this stage reaches a merry and soulful momentum. Think Stax has gone Oslo. At times this is truly magnificent. With subtle mayhem, such as on the well-balanced gymnastic vocal excursions of 'Enter Part Three', the album even recalls the wacky Maja Ratke and Jaap Blonk duo.
