Welcome zany yanks, Welsh, Irish or English and whomever not capable of understanding a single word of the French and German words used in the artist name and title of the album. The sound of 'The Pricks' actually harks back to middle 1980's German-British new wave. The vocoder-distorted vocals lead one to believe that we're dealing here with a bunch of euro-posers yet, wait, listen to the deafening bassline on 'Live It Down'. To be honest, this euro nonsense takes away the attention from these pricks talents.
The press sheet coming with this review and the band's website doesn't even mention the bass player, let alone who recorded his or her bass lines. So, that's how far we've come. All I want to know who plucks that bass, and who bangs the drum in such an impeccable fashion. Les Cox should immediately fire their manager. 'Shit with Rice' is a toe-cringing affair. Their talent is so plainly obvious, yet they waste this on the easy jet numbhead generation.
Les Cox do know how to throw a party. They bridge the gap left behind by Thee Milkshakes and Marc Riley's Creepers. They play excellent crummy, muddy new wave rock ditties. This is quite a good album when you ignore the fact Les Cox are playing silly euro buggers.
