Little Lost David is the project of David J. Roch, the former singer and guitarist with Sheffield's Curbar.
Within a week his band split and he also broke up with his fiancee, so this lead to him having a rethink about where he was going musically, and from this came some of the songs on his new four song EP, 'Skin and Bones'.
The title track begins by sounding quite fragile, like a Nick Drake number or something by Belle and Sebastian. It is sung as a two piece, with David being joined by a girl singer. There are perfect harmonies between the two voices and added to these is some very sweet guitar. As it progresses it becomes much more intense in sound.
'Hell Followed' is a decent folk rock nmber, again like Nick Drake, with a backing that is sweet as it is gentle. There is a real northern feel within the song's gasp.
David sounds on 'The Lost Child' as graceful as moody Tim Buckley and as heart searching as Mark Eitzel. It melody also recalls early Starsailor. 'Lord Knows' is as delicate and moody as early TomPaulin, a slow paced ballad of great beauty.
A melancholic and heartbreaking set of songs from an evocative talent.
