The Birmingham cocktail-folkies Pram lift 'Beluga' off last year's wonderful 'The Moving Frontier' album and add four starkly different versions of another three album tracks.
In contrast, it lacks the album's coherence, and to begin with, the Psapp remix is rather dull. Aguirre Wrath of Godsy uses Morricone tricks and makes 'The Silk Road' a rather risky route but Grandmaster Gareth's workover of 'Beluga' is the version to go for. Not just funny and wacky, Grandmaster Gareth's mix is funky too, oddly enough 'funky' can be the acronym of funny and wacky. The mistake made by the Throwing Toys Into The Pram remix on the closing track 'Salva' should never be repeated; don't drown the precious vocals in a downbeat electronic jazzy mess please. Pram already sounded like this over 10 years ago, no need for a 'reprise'
