British disco punks Deaf Stereo are here with ‘Youth in movement’ to set their mark on the thriving British indie scene.
While there is so much monotonous music around which at times spectacularly disappoints in terms of its lack of originality and conviction, Deaf Stereo manage to make a song that generates as much feeling as it does funky grooves.
With a bass line that could happily sit along anything in scene leaders Death from Above 1979's back catalogue, ‘Youth in Movement’ is a song which screams rock n roll attitude and swagger and couples this with infectious dance sounds which would sound orgasmic in any live music or nightclub setting.
In echoing the likes of the Rapture and the Klaxons, Deaf Stereo seem set to be another success story.
The song's lyrics tell the story of being on a night out on a crowded dancefloor and meeting someone who wants to get out of there and have some fun. You can feel the smoky club atmosphere and the bass line goes straight through you taking you out of wherever you may be.
Deaf Stereo drip attitude and harness it into groovy songs which just enough guitar and drums to sound rock, but enough symbol and synthesised noise to make you move in time to the beats that pleasurably assault you throughout. They are a band which will take rock to discos and discos to gigs. This is a perfect cross over of two genres who seem to have been seeing a lot of each other recently.
