It reads on the label that this should be played at 33rpm though at 45 it's a classic belter! But to be honest, playing 'Safari Jacket'at thirty-three-and-a-third makes sense. The alien vocals, the swaying guitar chords plus the build up suck you in the same way that techno music can do.
This EP is all about confusion. The first track listed on the sleeve, 'Little Boy', has a tremendous brass arrangement towards itsend. Little Japanese Toy then somehow blow it on 'N=' where echoes of the Flaming Lips, Wedding Present and Beach Boys eventually become too much to bear. But heck, at 45 it could be the best track John Peel will play this week.
