Even though I was already very familiar with the three EPs out of which this album is made up , the sequencing here still makes these dozen old songs plus two remixes sound very fresh. 'Journey Song' is featured as a theme on this CD, athough the general idea of the "Family Is For Sharing" album is one of gracefully hopping along. The Brothers In Sound do levitate and lift spirits, but there is always a down to earth feel about them. They are a band that could play Glastonbury and then the Stonehenge vegaburger BBQ on the same night.
Brothers In Sound are not a band of many faces, but it is peculiar how a CD selection can readjust initial impressions. "Hey You" is one of the EP tracks that sounds better placed here. Now it is a song which Robert Wyatt from The Soft Machine might like, and moulds 'Journey Song' into the opening of its second part with thick beats.
The second exclusive is Wauvenfold's -'course y'know who he is- remix of 'Sleep Again'. It is radical, has what seems like a false start with battery failure, then takes off like a digital locomotive. No doubt this will someday appear on vinyl as well.
'Lauryn Hill' indicates The Brothers' progression and is as magnificent here as it is on the recent EP.
