Richard Earls and Thierry Audousset, with contributions from Andy Daglish and Vicky Rayner, make up Older Wiser Harder, which is a musical project with real literary quality.
Volume 2 in the 'A Musical Project' trilogy contains two fine instrumentals and four songs which combine prose and poetry.
The title track praises the alternative to the box. Let's go walking.
A lead role for the piano on 'The Long Goodbye' and 'Bless Me Bartender' results in an almost redemptive type of cabaret. Orchestration is full blown on the latter part of the second song and is is set against the tranquility of an acoustic guitar instrumental
'I Stand Accused', the final track, is even jollier and catchier than 'Church of Sound and Vision'. It has a snappy horn arrangement, and is a bit like a Northern Soul number
This EP will, however, please followers of singer-songwriters too. Older Wiser Harder shouldn't go unnoticed.
