Hello and welcome to the November 2019 edition of the Pennyblackmusic Magazine.

Anyone who has ever been involved in promoting gigs will tell you how difficult it can be selling tickets and bringing customers in. Indie band nights can be unpredictable - sometimes going well, but other nights it can prove much more difficult if not impossible to break even.

We have been promoting occasional gigs at Pennyblackmusic since 2002, and have had our share of both. It is, therefore, with very great pleasure that I can report that our recent gig at the Peer Hat in Manchester with the Popguns, Davey Woodward and The Winter Orphans and Ollie Winder sold out weeks in advance. Dixie Ernill reports in this edition on a great night of indie pop, and the Popguns' triumphant return to Manchester after an absence of twenty-five years.

We also have news on our next Bands Night which will take place at the Water Rats in London on January 17th 2020 with the Band of Holy Joy, Moon Under Water and Dream Maps. Tickets are £8 in advance from We Got Tickets and £10 on the door.

There is also our usual wide range of interviews, features, and live, album and single reviews with both established and newer names, as well as our most of our regular columns.

As always this magazine has come together through the hard work of a lot of people. Thank you to Carl Bookstein, Kimberly Bright, Malcolm Carter, Daniel Cressey, Nicky Crewe, Dastardly, Nick Dent-Robinson, Anthony Dhanendran, Dixie Ernill, Cat Goodwin, Dave Goodwin, Zena Greig, Tommy Gunnarsson, Marie Hazelwood, Keith How, Ben Howarth, Fiona Hutchings, Adrian Janes, Steve Kinrade, Richard Lewis, L. Paul Mann, Adrian P, Mark Rowland, Lisa Torem, Andrew Twambley, Denzil Watson and Amanda J. Window. Special thanks to our webmaster Richard Banks for his work behind the scenes.

We will be back with an album and single reviews update in late November and then a full edition in mid-December with interviews, features, reviews and our Writers and Photographers' Albums of the Year poll.

Please check out our regular Facebook and Twitter updates.

Thank you as always for reading Pennyblackmusic,
