intro
Fantastic indie pop on new 7 inch vinyl EP from reformed 1980’s legends, the June Brides
‘She Seems Quite Free’ is the new 7 inch EP from Devon-based reformed 1980’s indie pop legends, the June Brides. The dreamy opening track ‘Being There’ sounds as if it was written back in the golden days of 1984. It jingles and jangles in a true heartfelt way. Vocalist Phil Wilson sound upon it as if he is writing to a new sweetheart a love letter, and is scared to scare her away by his shyness. ‘She Seems Quite Free’ is crisp and fresh in sound, capturing your hopes and dreams in a mere few minutes like the Smiths used to do so well. Including a trumpet solo and handclaps, it has its own charm and makes life sound very so inviting. ‘I'm Undone’ takes up all of the second side. It has a military pace, and, backed by the trumpet, Wilson’s vocal has a commanding Julian Cope/Pete Wylie-style sharp attack to it, as he calls out to the youth of the nation. A joyful call to arms.
