intro

Pleasant enough, but indistinctive country from self-appointed Coen Brothers of Rock, Nottingham group the Grave Architects

Nottingham’s the Grave Architects are described as “The Coen Brothers of Rock” in their press release, which is attributed to New Noise. Though it might make for a lovely sound bite, the band’s admittedly varied indie pop does not really compare with the distinctive off-the-wall brilliance of the makers behind 'The Big Lebowski', 'Fargo' and 'Miller’s Crossing'. ‘Highway Be True’ is a country-flavoured number which follows a fairly standard country folk song structure, vaguely reminiscent of some of Graham Coxon’s solo work. 'Love Tbc' fares better, sitting between the Super Furry Animals and Supergrass, skipping between several different sounds and sections. It’s hardly breaking new ground, but it’s pleasant enough, and the band’s obviously desire to keep things interesting may take them in bolder directions in the future.
