intro
Second album from acclaimed New York-based singer-songwriter and experimental artist, Delicate Steve
Delicate Steve (Marion is his surname) sounds dangerously like a one-man Ratatat. His sneering guitar work comes in patterns that evolve as cycles; almost exactly like in that NYC duo's trademark sound. On a couple of tracks the delicacy of Steve Marion reaches the surface over the whirlpool of sounds. Delicate Steve's brand of rock is one of repetition, but less sturdy though than Ratatat's marching on snares and keyboards. Multi-instrumentalist Steve plays well-needed solos to give the rather samey tracks some sort of identity to each. 'Tallest Heights' is the most rewarding, because of its exotic ballroom touch. There is not a daft track on 'Positive Force', but alas only four of them strike the right chord.
