intro
Lyrically optimistic and ethereal-sounding download only single from Scottish singer-songwriter Jo Hamilton, the latest from her 'Gown' album
The globe-trotting, celestial singer-songwriter Jo Hamilton is a purveyor of Gaelic lullabies and a native of Scotland. Her debut ‘Gown’ touches on multiple genres and, on it, her musicians imaginatively utilize wine glasses as percussive colour. The final track on that ethereal album is ‘Think of Me’ which has just been released as a single. The ballad makes good use of Hamilton’s pure tone and stellar range and is comparable, in structure, to a hymn. Any of Hamilton’s original music deserves a good listen as her material is underscored by nuance, and ‘Think of Me’ is especially illustrative here. As with the making of other tracks on ‘Gown,’ Hamilton works intimately with producer Jon Cotton, Poseidon Records. Cotton, who produced Scott Matthew’s Ivor Novello Award-winning album Elusive, reacts sensitively to Hamilton’s innocent renderings. ‘Think of me’ is lyrically optimistic and sonically redemptive. In keeping with Hamilton’s propensity for elaborate works, I hope this teaser is a prequel to another exciting recording project.
