intro
First-rate and unique-sounding debut album from London-based band, Gabby Young and Other Animals
Great voice. Good band. This has got to be an act to see live. You can feel the presence in the recordings. Is it jazz? Is it swing? What is it? Oh, hang on! It’s folk. Is there a bit of rock? Oh no, it’s not. Gabby Young has her own style and I don’t think another band could copy or better it. It’s hers and it’s intelligent and beautiful. Poetry. Some tracks have a cheeky comedic presentation. All the tracks work. It seems that Gabby Young is making her own way and her own following is building quite nicely thank you. Gabby Young is an artist to be respected . This release comes after she has had serious treatment for throat cancer and what a fantastic voice. So woven within the music is a strong positive personality which transfers itself to the listener. Also there is a bit of a buzz going on about Gabby Young’s style ,looks and dress. Looking at photographs of the good lady I can positively say that I wouldn’t mind bumping shopping trolleys with her at my local Holland and Barrett. So what am I trying to say? If you are a lover of female vocals and want different and intelligent music, then make a small wise investment that will reward you much longer than a couple of shares in the Royal Bank of Scotland and will never put you into negative equity, I thank you.
