intro
Welcome first new single in seven years from the much missed Morrissey
Morrissey. Oh, Morrissey... Morrissey, for those not of my age, is a poet, genius, and in the 80's from 1982 to 1987 fronted one of the greatest bands in the world, the Smiths. This is not the sad 80's as played by pensioner heart FM, but the 80's that produced a soundtrack for our lives at that time. We are talking here Echo and the Bunnymen, the Sisters of Mercy and the Cure. 'Irish Blood, English Heart' is not a new song. Saint Moz first began touring with it two years ago, but now, after some time without a contract, he now has a new record deal with the not-so-great Sanctuary records, which is also home to Spiritualized at the moment. On record 'Irish Blood, English Heart'sizzles, and, his first new material in 7 years, is very much welcomed. It starts with the sexiest guitar you can imagine, and then is followed by tingling drums and then a majestic Morrissey vocal. At 42 seconds in, he goes into battle and takes us, his loyal fan club with him and we rejoice and go mad. It is the song of an English man singing about a country he is now ashamed of. It is not politically correct to say you're English and to celebrate this fact. It is often see to be racist. Bollocks to that ! Morrissey, who now lives in LA, is the voice who speaks out about this. In the circumstances you can't blame him for leaving the country. The three B-sides are good too. 'It's Hard to Walk Tall when You're Small' is more or less a rockabilly number.'Munich Air Disaster 1958' is classic mournful Moz and has some strong backing instrumention. 'They Never Played Symphonies' sounds like a classic closer to a superb album and is the best B side here Geat stuff ! God bless the Moz. We love you. Welcome back. More at www.morrisseymusic.com
