intro
Laid back and minimalistic new CD single from Colorado alternative rock group, the Czars
The uniquely titled 'X Would Rather Listen To Y Than Suffer Through A Whole C Of Z's' is the latest 4 track single from the Colorado based the Czars, and has been released on the London label, Bella Union, to coincide with the the band's latest album, 'The Ugly People vs. the Beautiful People'. The title track opens the single. Fluent guitar strums give the song a sense of melody, while a bass guitar and piano echo in the background, all together creating a very laid-back atmosphere. The second song starts with the dramatic vocals, 'All I ever wanted was no one single thing', from John Grant, the singer. Drums join later and together with the bass spin the song up into an assertive rhythm. Towards the end the music escalates further still , but then all of a sudden, right at the very finish of the song, it drops into quiet The last two tracks, '2nd Runner Up' and 'You Don't know What Love Is', are calmer, especially the closing song which has a slight jazzy-blues feel. This song has a minimalistic feel, but the vocals ( 'You don't know what love is/You don't know how a heart burns') are typically colourful .
