intro
Raw and assertive latest punk single from the ever popular the Parkinsons
When it comes to naturalism, the Portuguese-Scottish hybrid the Parkinsons know how to do this the best. Their latest single 'Streets Of London', which has been released on the Fierce Panda label , is no exception. The first track, 'Bedsit City', is inspired by the life on streets in London. The roughness of it literally radiates from the music. As is also characteristic of the Parkinsons' live shows, it is also assertive with a complete lack of mercy. The music on 'Somerstown', the second track, is more peculiar. The almost artful teasing of the strings of a bass guitar brings a lot of melody to the song. Vocalist Alfonso, fronts the song as usual but sings, appearing from the background, which gives it an even more direct approach. 'Pill', closes the single with a modest lyric that is shouted out in a faithful punk style. Its catchy tune sweeps you easily along. The single was produced by Ben Lurie (ex-Jesus & Mary Chain bass guitarist now in Freeheat.) All 3 tracks of 'Street Of London' have a raw feel and are also a little bit intimidating. Just like the band's live show.
